How Much Room a Dumpster Needs
Our dumpster is 20 feet long, 7 feet wide, and 4.5 feet tall. That fits in most driveways, but the spot needs a little more than the box itself.
The truck needs a clear path to back in. It also needs room above, because the dumpster tilts and slides off the trailer. Look up before you pick a spot. Low wires, tree branches, and roof edges can get in the way.
Driveway, Yard, or Street
Each spot works. Here is what to think about for each one:
- Driveway. The most common choice. We set boards under every dumpster to protect the surface, and you can walk debris right in.
- Yard. Good when the work is far from the driveway. After heavy rain, soft ground can rut, so tell us about the ground when you call and we will plan the drop.
- Street. We can place it on the street when that is where the job needs it. Check with your city or borough about any street rules first. In Warren, that means the City of Warren. In Jamestown, it means the City of Jamestown.
Tips for Picking the Right Spot
- Close to the work. For a roof job, park it near the roof edge so shingles go straight in.
- Room to load. Leave space on at least one side to walk in or toss debris over the side.
- Keep your car free. Make sure you can still get in and out of the garage or driveway.
- Stay clear. Keep sidewalks, mailboxes, and fire hydrants open.
- Level ground. A flat spot is safer for loading and for pickup.

How to Load It Safely
Load heavy, flat items on the bottom and spread the weight evenly. Keep everything below the top edge so the dumpster is safe to haul. Each dumpster holds up to 2 tons. If you fill it up, we can swap it for an empty one.
Some things cannot go in at all: tires, batteries, paint, oils, chemicals, propane tanks, asbestos, and appliances with Freon. If you are not sure about an item, call us before you load it.
