Picking between a 10 yard and a 20 yard dumpster in Warren, PA is easier than it looks. At Pangborn Enterprises, both sizes are the same dumpster. The real difference is how much weight comes with it, and once you know what you are throwing away, the choice is simple.
Same Dumpster, Different Weight
Both sizes use a steel roll-off that is 20 feet long, 7 feet wide, and 4.5 feet tall. It fits most driveways, and it is low enough to walk debris in and toss it over the side.
The 10 yard is $350 for 5 days with 1 ton included. The 20 yard is $400 for 5 days with 2 tons included. So the extra $50 buys you one more ton of weight.
Here is the math that matters. If a 10 yard goes 1 ton over, you pay $350 plus $75, which is $425. The 20 yard would have been $400 with that ton already included. If your job is heavy, the 20 yard is often the cheaper pick.

When a 10 Yard Is Enough
Pick the 10 yard when your load is light for its size:
- Garage cleanouts. Old tools, bikes, boxes, and junk from a one or two car garage.
- One or two rooms. Clearing a bedroom, a basement corner, or a spare room.
- Small remodels. A small bathroom or a single room of flooring.
- Yard waste. Brush and branches from one project.
When to Go With the 20 Yard
Pick the 20 yard when your load is heavy or your job is big:
- Full home cleanouts. A whole house or a family estate. The 20 yard holds about 6 to 7 pickup truck loads.
- Roof tear-offs. Shingles are heavy, and a standard roof uses most of the weight.
- Big remodels. Kitchens, full baths, and jobs with plaster, tile, or drywall.
- Anything you are unsure about. When you are between sizes, the 20 yard usually costs less than a 10 yard plus overage.

How to Guess Your Weight
You do not need a scale to pick the right size. A few simple rules help:
- Light for its size. Furniture, boxes, clothes, toys, and yard brush. These fill space before they fill weight.
- Heavy for its size. Shingles, plaster, tile, brick, concrete, and dirt. These fill weight before they fill space.
- Mixed loads. Most remodels are a mix. If a big share of your load is heavy material, lean toward the 20 yard.

Each dumpster holds up to 2 tons. For a heavy job, we can swap a full dumpster for an empty one mid-job so your crew never stops. Call for swap pricing.
A 30 yard is coming soon for construction sites and the biggest cleanouts. Until then, most big jobs run on a 20 yard with swaps. See our roofing and construction dumpsters page for heavy-debris tips, or our cleanout dumpsters page if you are clearing a home.
